Abstract: The CMS Zero-Degree-Calorimeter Project
The CMS Zero Degree Calorimeter (ZDC) is designed to measure photons and neutrons in p-p and Pb-Pb collisions at TeV energies at pseudorapidities close to the beam (|eta|>8.3). The detector can be used for physics as well as for LHC beam monitoring (luminosity, crossing-angle, ...). We will describe the characteristics of the calorimeter, and summarize the measurements accessible with the detector.
