Abstract: Strangeness and other Flavors as a QGP Probe: A New Twist on an Old Story
I discuss processes that change the flavor of leading jet partons in heavy ion collisions and
the possibility they offer to extract information about the underlying medium. I focus on the identity
crisis of 'quark' and 'gluon' jets and the excess production of photons. I conclude with the
proposal that the strangeness content of jets might be a very good probe for the quark
gluon plasma at RHIC.
